A velvety voice? Check. Incredibly talented on multiple instruments? Check. British? Check. Swoon.

You’re looking for Samuel Bird, a fantastic music maker, and singer-songwriter. He is also an amazing photographer. I also crossed paths with Sam on Celebrity Cruises! Cruising brings together so many people from so many places with different backgrounds and beliefs, that it is an amazing source of creative information. I was lucky enough to develop a great friendship with this guy, who played the music as I was walking down the aisle at my wedding. (He was also my husband’s best man.) I guess you could say Sam wears a lot of hats and loves it!

Sam’s creative philosophy relies on letting inspiration come naturally. His creativity grows deeper through connections that spark in his surroundings and he relies on his ears and eyes to ensure that his creativity is authentic. His joy comes from sharing his music and his photos with others and knowing that it is bringing them happiness as well.

Sam’s passion for capturing special moments and emotions fuels his creative expression. His creativity is beautiful, and I am thrilled to share his words with you.

What inspired you to take up music and photography?

Sam: My parents recognized my passion for music as a young child when I tried to pick out melodies on a relative’s piano. I was inspired to take photographs while traveling and seeing stunning landscapes and new cultures.

What is your creative process?

Sam: When I'm feeling inspired I let it wash over me. Instead of pushing creativity, I just enjoy what I'm doing and let the creativity bloom.

What are some challenges you have faced and how have you overcome them?

Sam: Writer’s block for songwriting. I haven't necessarily overcome that yet. But I think the most important thing is that I haven't pushed myself to do anything. I really believe that creativity shouldn't be forced. So I wait patiently until I feel that familiar niggle of creativity. I'm actually excited because I've recently felt inspired to finish a song I started over two years ago, so maybe this signals the end of my block!

What is your favorite place to photograph and why?

Sam: I think of all the places I’ve photographed so far in my travels, my favorite has to be Ushuaia, Argentina. Being the southern most city in the world it is nicknamed "Fin del Mundo” which translates to “End of the World”. Despite the apocalyptic nature of its nickname it really is exceptionally beautiful. I wasn’t there for too long, and didn’t have much time to explore but nevertheless I took so many photos and they are all stunning.

In fact, I used a photo from Ushuaia for the artwork of the my first single, “Hollow”.

How do you want your creativity to influence others?

Sam: If my art makes people smile or gives people enjoyment then I'd be very pleased. But further than that, I'd like to inspire people. I've met many people that don't think they have any creativity and that makes me very sad because I think there is creativity in everyone. I think it is inherently human to be creative. I'd love to inspire those people to flex their creative muscles.

Where can we find your music?

Sam: You can find me on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and all other online outlets under Samuel C Bird. Feel free to click follow to hear some new music soon!
