Christmas Gift Guide for Writers

Hello friends!

Christmas is almost here, and I know trying to think of a gift for someone who likes to write can be daunting. Everyone has their own process, and their own style, but that doesn’t mean it has to be difficult to find something meaningful to improve their writing experience!

Everyday is a writing day for me — As it is for most writers!

If a day goes by where one word hasn’t come from my mind to my document or a piece of paper I am in trouble. Haha!! I love shopping for writers because there are so many easy and fun gifts to help them keep up their creativity and have them feel encouraged to keep going! These are some of the best gifts / investments I have made as a writer that I KNOW will be truly helpful to the writers in your life!

Check out this gift guide for writers:

Palo Santo Sticks:

If you haven’t lit a Palo Santo Stick while you are creating, I highly recommend it! Palo Santo Wood when lit just enough to burn slowly like an incense helps to remove negative energy and inspire creativity. It is a beautiful and calming smell that helps stimulate your mind. It is a perfect gift for the writers in your life to help them focus their mind and explore their creative notions. And nothing is better than having a pretty burner to hold the Palo Santo stick!

A Subscription to Grammarly PREMIUM:

GRAMMARLY IS A GIFT TO ALL WRITERS. And the premium subscription service is a million times better than the free version. It helps with so much more than grammar, and makes editors jobs much easier. I always recommend this service to the writers I meet and work with because it is an excellent tool that can be used in countless areas outside of writing for blogs, books, journals, or beyond. I also use it for social media content, emails, newsletters, and so on. It also tracks the amount of words you use, and what your most repetitive challenges are so you can continue to improve your writing. It’s one of the best investments I have made, and will continue to use it forever!!

A Small Notebook:

Writers are ALWAYS coming up with ideas to write about. Out and about with friends, at a coffee shop, in the car, at work, waking up in the morning, in the shower, anywhere and anytime there are ideas sparking words and stories in their minds. Having a small notebook handy makes it easy for writers to keep their ideas in one place and makes it easy to return to. (Also, Rocketbooks automatically connect to google drives and so on, making it SUPER EASY to transition from handwritten to computer. One of the best gifts I got while writing my last book!)

A Nice Pen:

Writing by hand may not be as common as typing in this day and age, but in the moments when a pen is needed having a nice one to use that flows easily and doesn’t need too much pressure to get the ink out is a great starting point! One of my favorite brands is Cross. They’re sturdy, easy to use, and come in different thicknesses, and don’t break the bank.

More iCloud Space (Apple gift card):

Aside from a mini notebook, I also use my phone’s notes app A LOT. I have a file with hundreds of notes started from before I had my Rocket Notebook, and I still use when I don’t have a little notebook handy. However, as we all know our phones lose space quickly with iCloud. I have removed my pictures from automatically syncing, but for those of us who keep it all together some extra iCloud space is always helpful! My Notes app syncs between my phone, my laptop, and my iPad so it’s a useful tool to have and not to worry about not having enough space! I think I began with a $0.99/month upgrade. Thoughtful doesn’t always have to mean expensive!

Writing Prompt Workbook:

Sometimes it is challenging for me to write about any old topic. I typically focus on one subject matter at a time, or get to narrow minded about my theme. However, when I take some time to challenge what I am writing about, I find that it elevates and empowers my writing in other areas. For example, I don’t write a lot of fiction, but when I spend time focused on an unbelievable storyline it fuels my motivation for writing in my blog or in my current book. It helps bring my joy in writing and reminds me that writing is so powerful that it can create new worlds. It’s a beautiful experience and a super tool that a lot of writers I have worked with don’t use enough! (This is also a fun gift to custom make! Researching fun topics that and inspire the writers in your life and creating a little book of them is an exciting way to become more engaged in their writing process!)

I hope these ideas helped trigger some exciting gifts for the writers in your life! I have been so grateful to everyone who has supported my love of writing, both personally and professionally, and am so excited to share some of these inspiring treasures with you and your fellow writers for this holiday season!
